FALL
The collapse didn’t come with plague or war. It came slowly—as old systems, once thought unbreakable, began to crack.
On the island of Talem, a small community endures. Cut off from the mainland, they live by shared labor, old knowledge, and a deep respect for the natural world. But survival is only the beginning.
Fifteen-year-old Harald repurposes remnants of the old world, hikes to the island’s summit for radio checks, and delivers messages by hand. His life is built on routine and quiet wonder—until a voice crackles through the static. A call for help.
Fall is a novel of slow collapse and quiet resilience. It asks what we become when the world we knew disappears—not all at once, but piece by piece.

ANCIENT ONES
Ancient Ones is a short story inspired by the YouTube channel Desert Drifter. Set in the remote cliff dwellings of the American Southwest during the time of the Ancestral Puebloans, it follows a boy and girl who leave their overpopulated community to settle a distant canyon ledge. Told in spare, poetic prose, the story explores survival, ancestral memory, and the quiet founding of home in a world shaped by earth, sky, and stone.

SKIN
A wildlife officer in a fading Colorado town, Dan is drawn to the natural world—the land and the animals he protects.
As he moves closer to nature, he begins to question the impact of modern life, his place within it, and the responsibility he carries. Then a sudden crack in consciousness pulls him headlong into the experience of the wild.
This fracture propels Dan on a journey of wonder and reckoning, as he speeds toward an uncertain destination.
Set against the dramatic backdrops of Colorado and Yellowstone, SKIN is a novel about the tensions between modern life and the fragile beauty of the wild—exploring grief, belonging, ecological memory, and the quiet potential for transformation.

THE UNSEEN THREAD
Newly retired and quietly adrift, Wyn expects his days to pass in quiet routine. But when a split-second decision saves a stranger at a train station—and time seems to fold back on itself—he begins to question everything he thought he knew.
Drawn into a hidden current of moments and choices, Wyn discovers he’s not alone. There are others who can feel the thread of time, subtle and strange, and nudge it toward a better outcome. If they’re careful.
Set in an English town where the ordinary conceals the extraordinary, The Unseen Thread is a quiet novel of awakening—about paying attention, listening deeply, and the delicate art of changing what matters without losing what you are.

About The Author
Tim grew up between the rolling countryside of Cheshire—where rural fields meet industrial northwest—and the stark, sodden beauty of England’s Lake District. There, he spent more time in the worlds of Arthur Ransome, Henry Treece, and C.S. Lewis than doing his homework.
Later, Tim worked over two decades shaping guest experiences in the Colorado Rockies, including the complete redevelopment of an iconic ski lodge. After years helping others connect with the mountains, he turned inward, writing fiction rooted in land, memory, and transformation.
A former contributor to Vail Magazine, he lives in the Colorado high country, where the forest meets his back door and wildlife—deer, bear, bobcats, and the occasional mountain lion—passes through.
Reviews
Really enjoyed jumping into these worlds. Always made me think a bit harder about the world I live in today.
Tim is a very good author. His descriptions are wonderful to read and he has a lot of knowledge of the ancient Pueblo people.
Ancient Ones is a compelling and beautifully written work. The themes of survival, belonging, and ancestral connection are woven seamlessly into the narrative, creating a story that is both thought-provoking and immersive. Hargreaves’ prose brings the landscape to life and invites reflection on humanity’s relationship with the land and its history. A highly recommended read!
